Government computer security standards protect and safeguard valuable client data. When this insurance company subsidiary needed a public key infrastructure (PKI) to comply with regulatory standards, our solution engineering team got to work.
What We Did
iwerk deployed an enterprise-level PKI solution to facilitate the use of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) certificates throughout the client’s LAN to strengthen overall network security. This was required for activities where simple passwords are an inadequate for authentication, more rigorous proof is required to confirm the identity of the parties involved in the communication, and to validate the information being transferred.
iwerk designed a two-tier PKI topology utilizing an offline root CA (Certificate Authority), redundant issuing CA’s, a Linux-based open SSL issuing CA and Microsoft NDES for auto-enrollment. In partnership with the client’s IT staff, we developed the build specs and created each host with the specified vendor to implement redundant HSM appliances to the network. This client protects its valuable systems and customers data through extra layers of security. With PKI, they are able to employ advanced authentication and encryption methods to mitigate risks to their network.
