An entirely paper-based patient care process with a completely separate billing system was overwhelming a nine-location, 200-employee mental health facility that handled nearly 4,000 patient visits each year. When the iwerk team got the call, its engineers quickly got to work developing a solution to migrate from paper to an integrated electronic medical record system.
What We Did
Before we put technology to work for this client, the iwerk team reviewed the entire patient care process and included patient intake data, diagnosis, treatment, and progress note information. The team took a combination approach to streamlining workflows by migrating as many paper forms as possible to electronic formats, building a custom software platform to securely capture patient data, and integrating a billing application. Staff and patients are now enjoying more accurate clinical information, simplified record-keeping and billing. The facility was able to capture nearly $3 million in revenue the first 18 months after deploying the new solution, found revenue that has enabled the organization to expand its offerings, locations, and enhance service levels. The system also produces a variety of custom reports from clinical data, streamlining the patient care process.
