Large urban mental health non-profit captures an additional $3 million in revenue in first 18 months after deploying custom software applications.
Develop a patient medical record tracking and billing system along with other related custom applications.
This company was utilizing an almost entirely paper-based patient tracking and billing system. With nine locations, a staff of 200+ and a patient population of almost 7,000, the organization was overwhelmed by this labor intensive process.
Over the last decade, iwerk has worked with this client to refine their business processes and migrate as much paperwork and manual processes as possible to electronic formats – first, by custom-built distributed desktop applications and later, to web-based versions. This ultimately led to the development of a robust Microsoft .NET patient record tracking and billing application that now sits at the core of their business.

The patient tracking application collects and reports on intake information, service activity logs, administered medications, progress notes, etc. Several key features of the application are accessible online via a handheld device running Windows Mobile 5.0. This provides the staff with mobility and independence while still keeping the data current and centralized.

Employees must report on their patient data in very specific formats on a regular basis for funding and reimbursement purposes
Through the new level of accuracy in record keeping and billing, the company was able to capture nearly $3 million in revenue the first 18 months after deploying the new software. This “found” revenue has allowed the company to expand their offerings, locations and level of service. In cases where data can be exchanged electronically (using EDI), iwerk integrated the capability, reducing data errors and transfer times resulting in increased collections. This accuracy also helps the company move smoothly through the intensive medical profession audit process with data reporting that can be easily exported for viewing or printing.
