State-of-the-art testing and tracking system created for start-up fire safety company
Develop an application that standardizes a fire hose inspection and testing process.
After 9/11, a company was founded to provide qualified fire hose service testing for fire stations across the U.S. They asked us to develop a custom software application compliant with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards that would allow for inventory, inspection and fast turnaround of test results with many reporting options.
Working closely with the company founders, iwerk helped define the fire hose testing process. iwerk created a web-based application in order to centralize data and guarantee easy access for their mobile inspection teams. To streamline the on-site process, certified inspectors are armed with handheld devices to capture inventory and test data, which is then uploaded to the web-based application through a secure extranet. iwerk loves to work with handhelds.

Through discussions about future phases, iwerk convinced the company to capture and store more data than they initially intended, by helping the company understand how this additional data would provide them with more opportunities as they continue to grow.
Testing is done on location and has a fast turnaround process minimizing out-of-service fire apparatuses. System ensures that fire hose portion of ISO Protection Classification (PPC) is fully met resulting in a 2-15% reduction in fire insurance premiums for commercial and residential dwellings. Client has a robust data store that can be utilized as the company continues to grow.
